Gin Liver
Gin Liver
Visualizing the risks of drinking alcohol
This is a drink bottle made in the shape of a liver. For many people, alcohol is part of everyday life. Alcohol is therefore one of the most important (preventable) risk factors for dying from a disease. The consumption of alcohol is generally accepted in our society. This is alarming because alcohol is a risk factor for cancer. Alcohol increases the risk of several cancers including: mouth and throat cancer, larynx cancer, colon cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer and breast cancer, with each glass of alcohol increasing the risk.
INSIGHT: Cancer is often said to be a result of smoking. However, research has shown that alcohol might be the underlying cause of various sorts of cancer which before, were thought to be the result of smoking. This project should inform people about the risks of drinking alcohol.
CONCEPT: Alcoholic beverages are put in bottles, shaped in organs that could be affected by cancer. Customers who order an alcoholic beverage are served with these bottles and keep them company while drinking as such reminding them of the possible consequences of consuming alcohol.
